Who is the main character in the story, Thief, from the collection, We Live in Water?

Wayne is the main character of “Thief.” There is nothing to indicate that this is the same Wayne as the one in “Anything Helps.” When Wayne was a child, he once stole a small amount of money from his father, and Wayne still feels guilty about having done so. Wayne is now married and has three children. When it becomes apparent that one of his children is stealing small amounts of money from him, Wayne becomes very upset and fixated on this problem although he cannot bring himself to confront his children.
