Why did Mejan kill Sven in the novel, We Know You Remember?

When Mejan learned that their neighbor, Sven, had discovered the truth about Tryggve, she grew anxious. In order to keep Sven from outing Tryggve and ruining their family life, Mejan murdered Sven with a hunting knife.
