What does Olaf discover when he visits his childhood home in the opening pages of the novel, We Know You Remember?

Olof returns to the house at the start of the novel in order to visit his father. As he approaches the house, he encounters the sound of water overflowing and a restless dog. Inside, he is met with a rancid odor. He is shocked to find his father dead in the bathtub.
