Couture's painting displays no food as the title suggests, but instead the naked rear view of a voluptuous reclining female. The painting itself is certainly sensual enough, though its reclining female nude creates a peaceful pleasurable balance to the dramatic sensuality of "Pan and Syrinx" on the facing page
