What finally inspires Wash to take up painting again in the novel, Washington Black?

After living in a state of despair in Nova Scotia, Wash eventually regains some passion for life after witnessing the beauty of glowing jellyfish in the harbor. He feels reinvigorated and takes up his favored crafts of drawing and painting again.
