When Aaron is asked to join a committee that will help determine which Jews are shipped to the extermination camps, Aaron refuses. Natalie agrees with his decision even though they both know it will likely mean their own transport. It is during this time that Aaron again finds his faith and begins practicing the religious rites of Jewish law.
