Why does the author use a limited-omniscient perspective in the novel, War Brides?

Bryan presents her narration from the limited-omniscient perspective, to keep her characters in time as they exist and not allowing them to know anything more than what they are capable of knowing given their circumstances. For example, while Tanni is unaware exactly of what has happened to her parents, the reader knows that her parents are in Auschwitz.
