Why does Orvil prefer to spend his free time at Sean's house in the novel, Wandering Stars?

After Sean and Orvil become friends, they begin spending all of their time at Sean's, where they get high, play video games, watch movies, and make music together. Sean's mother died and his dad runs a drug business out of the basement. Therefore, the boys have no supervision while at Sean's. Orvil becomes attached to the setting, because it grants him an escape from his family.
