What is Sophie's relationship with Ahn and her siblings in the novel, Wandering Souls?

Sophie is a fieldworker at Hampshire's Sopley Refugee Camp. She is assigned to Anh, Minh, and Thanh's case upon their arrival at the camp in May of 1979. Over the course of their time at the camp, Sophie becomes a confidante and friend.
