What does Anh's family gather to do in June of 2019 in the novel, Wandering Souls?

After Anh connects with her cousin Thach, Thach helps Anh contact the Kai Tak cemetery so that they can exhume the bodies of Anh's family members. The family then travels to Ho Chi Minh City together in June of 2019. In Ho Chi Minh, Anh, her brothers, and cousin cremate their family members. They then scatter the ashes in this location, so as to give their loved ones' spirits rest in their homeland.
