Who is Selina from Waiting for the Rain and what is their importance?

Selina is Tengo's mother. She works as the cook in the big house and leads a difficult life, cooking large delectable meals at work while watching her children who have little or nothing to eat. Selina works long hours, and as a result, sees little of her children.
