Who is William James from the book, W. E. B. Du Bois, 1868-1919: Biography of a Race?

William James was a philosophy professor ay Harvard University. He made friends with Du Bois and got him into the Harvard Philosophical club. James taught his students that the value of truth depends on what good it does for the individual, and that the human mind is constantly being influenced by the realities of the world.
