What is a Sonicator in the novel, Virals?

The sonicator is an ultrasonic machine used by Tory and her group to clean the dog tag so that they can read the number and name on it. The sonicator produces ultrasonic waves in a cleaning solution, creating cavitation bubbles that help to remove debris. It is used most often for cleaning glasses, metal coins, watches, and jewelry.
