Who is Facunda in the novel, Violeta?

Facunda is a young indigenous woman, who works for the Rivas family. She has “an expressive face, broad shoulders, and a body as strong as a stevedore’s” (62). Over the course of the novel, Facunda eventually oversees much of the operation of Santa Clara.
