The train tracks represent segregation. The Black and White neighborhoods and business areas of Tulsa were divided by railroad tracks. It is a visual symbol of the way Blacks were required to follow segregation laws restricting them to separate, and often substandard, facilities such as water fountains, bathrooms, and railroad cars.
