The cable that connects Wallace to Hugo is an example of how outside help can keep a person grounded despite their emotions. While this is literal for Wallace, it also provides an emotional connection that he did not have in life. This is so strong that he is able to use the cable to bring Cameron back from his husk form and give him a second chance to move on in peace. This is another example of how human interaction, understanding, and empathy can pull people from even the darkest of places.
