What is the theme in Uglies by Scott Westerfeld?

One of the main themes in the novel, Uglies, is that of individuality or lack thereof. Tally lives in a world where conformity and sameness are embraced, but she refuses to conform and learns to embrace her individuality.... differences, the things that deem her ugly in a world where everything look and acts the same.
