Who is G.G Ashwood from Ubik and what is their importance?

G.G Ashwood is a scout for the Runciter company. He is the man who asks Joe Chip to assess Pat Conley's abilities. Pat later tells Joe that she and G.G worked together to destroy Runciter's best telepaths.
