What is the Ti in the novel, Typee: A Peep at Polynesian Life?

The Ti is a long and narrow building about two hundred feet long and twelve feet wide that serves as a sort of palace for King Mehevi. It is also a favorite place for Tommo to come to relax and have a good meal of roast pork, poee-poee and other foods.
