Alexandra Bliss Fariña, the Lady Philosopher, wrote philosophical texts and foreign-language essays, living in lonely misery on her inherited estate. La Incoerenza, the estate, was named after her father’s experience of hearing of the theory that reality is not an objective constant. Her parents died in an accident, and she since believed that the world was incoherent as well as heartless. She also had an extreme gift for languages.
