Where does Tyler first go to kill himself, and who helps him not to do it?

Tyler goes to the high school's roof and is contemplating which side to jump off, as he doesn't want the wrong person to find him. He starts thinking of other ways to kill himself. Janitor Joe shows up and they talk. Joe says that he thinks that Tyler runs away when things get tough.
