How does the author use foreshadowing in Twisted?

In Chapter 13, when Tyler is at Bethany's we see that he gains some hope in life and enjoys her company. She seems sweet and trying to enjoy life, though obviously there are pressures from her parents and brother about living up to the status that they enjoy. She is kind to Tyler though and the confrontation with her brother foreshadows that there will continue to be struggles between Tyler, Bethany, and Chip.
