Who is Carmen Manoso from Twelve Sharp and what is their importance?

Carmen Manoso claims to be Ranger's wife.... she is not. Over the course of the novel, she accuses Ranger of stealing their money. The thief was, of course, the man who stole Ranger's identity. She is murdered by Edward Scrog.
