Why is Viola the protagonist of Twelfth Night?

The play, Twelfth Night, has Viola as its protagonist for several reasons. First, all of Viola's actions propel the play forward. Secondly, it is told from her viewpoint. The major source of conflict comes from her situation and what she does and doesn't know.
