What happens after Mr. Hale finishes his story of the previous day's events?

Lewis Hale is relieved to have finished his story, and the County Attorney decides that they will continue the investigation upstairs. Before going upstairs, he asks the Sheriff if he is sure that there was not anything in the kitchen of any importance to the motive of the murder.
