What method do Raphael, Gardo, and Rat use in order to evade the police after they leap from rooftop to rooftop in an attempt to escape?

After the boys leap from rooftop to rooftop in an effort to evade the police, they eventually lose the police completely by going down into the city and mixing with the other hundreds of poor kids who live there. In this way, there is no way for the police to pick the boys out of the huge crowd of kids.
