What is revealed in the novel's Appendix about the specific way in which Jose Angelico smuggled the money out of Senator Zapanta's house?

Within the Appendix, it is revealed in a letter written by Jose Angelico before his death that in order to reappropriate the money that Senator Zapanta had stolen from the common people, Jose Angelico had broken the thermostat inside the refrigerator and had then offered to replace the refrigerator himself. This ruse allowed him to smuggle the six million dollars out of Senator Zapanta's safe and out of the compound altogether.
