When Raphael and Gardo use Gabriel Olondriz's Bible in order to decipher the code included within the letter the boys had found within the train station locker, why is Rat unable to help them decipher the message and how does this inability add to the difference between him and the other two boys?

Rat is unable to help Raphael and Gardo decipher the code using the Bible or the slip of paper because he cannot read. Raphael had told the reader of Rat's illiteracy when he had first brought the leather bag to Rat's house in order to hide it. As the boys were looking through the bag's contents, Rat had to ask Raphael what was written on the enclosed documents, such as the map and Jose Angelico's identification card. In addition to Rat having no biological family at all, hailing from a location outside of Behala, and living inside of a hole, his inability to read further sets him apart from Raphael and Gardo.
