Rat describes Father Juilliard as being the closest thing to a father he has ever experienced and that he loves the man like a son would a father. Therefore, when Rat feels forced into stealing money from the mission school's safe in order to pay the bribe Marco requires to hand over Gabriel Olondriz's Bible, he feels incredibly guilty and can only be comforted by Raphael and Gardo when they tell him they will replace the money once they have recovered the money stolen by the corrupt politician Senator Zapanta.
