What is the importance of the title, Transit?

As stated by the astrologer at the beginning of the novel. Faye is going through a period of transit and, just as one does on a train ticket where one sees the starting point and the destination but not the stops in between, in the table of contents one sees the starting point of the novel and the destination (the end of the novel) but not the points in between. Hence, the title, Transit.
