What is the author's tone in Tracks by Robyn Davidson?

The tone of "Tracks" changes often, but it is always a pleasure to read. Robyn tells her story in a frank, honest way, not trying to make people sound nicer or stronger than they really are. As she describes many of her close friendships, she always talks about how warm Australian friendships can be.
