How is Rex different than what we would expect a dinosaur to be in the motion picture, Toy Story?

Even though he is supposed to represent a fierce and carnivorous creature, Rex is actually timid and nervous. He is easily intimidated and afraid that he will someday be replaced by a brave dinosaur. However, under Buzz's influence, Rex learns to roar and begins to gain a sense of self-esteem.
