Why doesn't Mrs. Ramsay allow her daughters to mock the atheist, Mr. Tansley?

She wants her daughters to be cordial to her guests, especially the men who are poor. Mrs. Ramsay feels she has to protect men because of their chivalry, their politics, their way with money, and their gracious, trusting attitude towards her.
