Why does Mr. Ramsay think he cannot talk to his wife as she sits in the chair knitting after James goes to bed?

She finds it odd that her husband does not view the world as other people do. He does not notice the things right in front of his eyes, such as flowers, beauty, the beautiful view, or even what he eats from his plate. He is more in tune with extraordinary things and intellectual dreaming.
