How does the author use foreshadowing in To the End of the Land?

In Section Nine of the novel, Grossman uses Ora's thoughts to foreshadow her future actions. In this section, she wonders if keeping her thoughts to herself might have saved her family..... foreshadowing her revelation of who she lost them in the first place.
