What is special about the Hooten's home in the novel, Time Window?

The Hootons are an old family in Garnet, and they have lived in the same house for centuries. Ed Hooton is a historian, and he decides to turn his home into a museum because it already has so many artifacts inside of it. He and his wife, Virginia, give tours daily.
