Character sketch of Jerome

Jerome (J) is the narrator of the book. He is a young, single, middle-class man, who lives in London. J is fond of history and literature, and he is a daydreamer. He is described as a little vain and conceited, but realizing it, he often pokes fun at himself. J is fond of boats, preferrong old fashioned rowboats or sailboats.
