What reaction does Doctor Varner have to the news that there has been a wild horse stampede in town?

After the stampede, Ratcliff runs to fetch Doctor Varner to attend to Henry's broken leg. When Varner hears the news about the wild horses, he suggests that even though all the horses have escaped, they might still have been a good buy for the all good exercise they're providing for their new owners. He fears that many lawsuits will arise due to the damage, but a part of him is pleased to feel needed in the town.
