On the day of his trial, Eck enters the courtroom with a heavy heart, almost sure that he will be forced to repay the Tull's for the damages made to their livestock, family, and wagon due to his horse running wild. Eck has almost resigned himself to this fact and makes no attempt to defend himself in the court. He simply sits and waits patiently for the judge to tell him exactly how much money is owed to the family.
