In addition to the charges brought up against Snopes by the Armstid family, Ratcliff also brings charges against Snopes for scamming the farmers, claiming Snopes was the rightful owner of the wild horses before Hipps came into town. These charges were quickly dismissed by the court. Also, charges were brought up against Eck by the Tulls who claimed that Eck should be held responsible for the damages to their livestock, family, and wagon.
