Why did Rose pretend to have a stomachache when she was eight?

When Rose was eight, her family was going to go to Awago for some event. Rose was mad because she didn't want to see Awago with snow. So she pretended to have a stomachache so she wouldn't have to go. She wanted to have this perfect picture of Awago in her head, just like it always was in summer.
