Describe symbolism in Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

One symbol in the novel is the scar Hannah has on her forehead. This scar was a direct result of Hannah's being publicly slapped by Jessica and represents her disconnection from her peers. For Hannah, it is a daily reminder of how she is perceived by her classmates.
