Uzowulu benefits from the decision because he is to bring palm-wine to his wife's family, begging that she be returned to him. His wife's family is told to comply with this. His wife has no say in the matter and has to return to a husband who beats her. The egwuwu make only one comment to Uzowulu about refraining from beating his wife. It is considered a small matter.
