Ikemefuna was a young teen that was given to the Umuofia in order to placate them because they killed one of the women in the village. He goes to live with Okonkwo's family but then later the tribe orders him killed. During the time he lived with Okonkwo's family (three years or so) he became like one of the family. Okonkwo likes him better than his own son in many ways. He is, unfortunately, the ultimate victim in this story because his fate is not in his own hands, no matter how hard working and diligent he is. He still ends up dead.
