What is an example of personification in the story, The Years, Months, Days?

Blindy the dog, while also being a character in the story, is a personification of the Elder's hunger. While the Elder and Blindy take care of the corn stalk, the Elder ignores his own hunger and fatigue in order to take care of the plant and the dog. However, when he looks at Blindy, he notices how skinny the dog is becoming, which causes him to reflect on his own state and realize the hunger he is experiencing. The Elder knows that he and Blindy are starving to death but the truth of the matter truly hits him whenever he stops and considers the condition that the dog is in.
