What is the relationship between Lieutenant Jamison and Milo in the book, The Wrong Case: A Novel?

Lieutenant Jamison is an officer with the sheriff's department. Milo and Jamison have known one another since childhood and Jamison has always been determined to make Milo a better man. Jamison and Milo went to the Korean War together and were deputies with the sheriff's department together. However, Milo was proven to be a corrupt cop and chased out of the sheriff's department while Jamison has excelled there. Not only this, but Jamison is married to Milo's first wife and raising Milo's biological son.
