Who is Henry George from The Worldly Philosophers and what is their importance?

Henry George was one of the Victorian era underground economists. He believed that the cause of society's problems lay in rents and believed the way to solve the problems was to impose a big tax on rents, a tax so large that it would tax away all of the rents. This tax, called the Single Tax, would be the only tax the government would need since it would provide all of the revenues necessary for the financing of government.
