The Church of the Twice Risen Christ is the church founded by Jeez, the oldest son of God. The churches in Cross River represent the different roles organized religion occupies in contemporary America. Jeez’s church represents organized religion as an institution for power and conquest to the benefit of the church leaders. Jeez’s sermons refer to God as a general, “leading an army though the streets and bathing in the concrete with the blood of the wicked” (3).
