Describe symbolism in The World's Great Speeches by Lewis Copeland

Copeland does not use symbolism, per se. He does, however, note that John Fitzgerald Kennedy, in his "Inaugural Address," said that his election should be celebrated as a symbol of freedom rather than a political victory.
