What is the exposition in the novel, The Wonder Boy of Whistle Stop?

Exposition is given throughout the novel as the author includes history about Whistle Stop and the people who lived there as well as the background story about Idgie and Arvel sporadically. The true plot of the story does not really start to develop until Bud gets lost looking for Whistle Stop.
